HomeGuard Pro is operated by RCE Electrical & Plumbing Services (Pty) Ltd, registered in South Africa ("we", "us", "our"). We are the responsible party for personal information collected through the HomeGuard Pro platform as defined under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
We collect information you provide directly: name, contact number, email address, property address, and details about your home systems. We collect service records including photographs, technician reports, and certificates of compliance generated during service visits. We collect payment information processed through our secure payment provider. We do not store full card numbers.
Your information is used to provide the HomeGuard Pro service — tracking service intervals, sending alerts, scheduling technician visits, and generating service reports. We use contact details to communicate service reminders, schedule updates, and account notifications. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information for targeted advertising.
Your property address and system details are accessible to employed RCE technicians assigned to your service visits. Technician access is logged and limited to what is necessary to perform the service. We use third-party service providers for payment processing and cloud storage — these providers are bound by confidentiality agreements and process data only on our instruction.
Service records and certificates of compliance are retained for 7 years after the service date to support insurance claims and property transfer documentation. Account information is retained for the duration of your subscription plus 2 years. You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time by contacting hello@homeguardpro.co.za — subject to our legal obligation to retain certain records.
You have the right to access your personal information, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of your information (subject to legal retention requirements), object to processing of your information, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
We implement technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights, we will notify you and the Information Regulator within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach.
